I have worked with Emmanuel for over 7 years at ABSA bank, in these 7 years Emmanuel was my team leader, Mentor and Trainer. He also trained new recruits on the framework and tech stack in our area; he also coordinated interviews for the new Java developers that were being hired.
During our time together we worked on sectors such as Corporate and Investment Banking and Retail Banking, these sectors are hosts to applications
- Internet banking: this is for day to day individual transactions such as beneficiary payment, prepaid and electricity purchases and other transactions that individuals perform on a banking platform.
- Business banking: this is where businesses pay their employees through the banking portals, they can also manage their beneficiaries and other day to day business transactions
When I started at ABSA I was a graduate C# developer, I spent 4 years doing application support. With Emmanuel’s training and mentorship I became a Java Developer, a title that I hold today. During our time working together I got to learn industry standards, how to code effectively and efficiently without over utilizing resources.
Emmanuel also helped with code reviews where he applied his wealth of experience and knowledge to help get the best code in our streams or branches. The code reviews were for junior to senior developers, the developers included locals and internationals.
During our time together in corporate we have done over 100 successful deployments to production which includes java code, firewall, mainframe, network, digital certificates, server, configs, messaging and database changes. Similarly in Retail we have been involved in state of the art architecture and various development projects.
Emmanuel always paid attention to detail in all the work we did, his enthusiasm is unmatched. He has never shied away from any issue we came across; he treats everybody with fairness no matter their seniority.
Emmanuel has demonstrated traits of leadership, intelligence and hard work. I can proudly vouch and recommend him for any position of his choosing. He will most definitely add value where ever he goes and whatever he touches shall turn to gold.
