Hi,
I am Surya Mallik who worked with Emmanuel van der Meulen for over 6 years during my tenure in ABSA. He was my colleague, team lead, mentor and I respect him a lot and also thankful for being one of the persons who helped me to become the best I can. He is one of the best person I ever met in my career. I say it because of his attitude, his kindness, his listening skills, his helping nature.
At the same time, when it comes to work, his analytical skills are really good and can help design the best possible system with his out of the box thinking. His way of questioning makes us to see things the way we never see, thus it helps in thinking the unthinkable and implementing the best possible solution. Even though he looks very flexible and kind hearted, he is very pedantic and never compromises with anything lower than the best possible.
Emmanuel who took up the training department within the Virtual Channels space, made his own mark in giving training to the new joiners in the team. Just as an example, he developed a division called Express Education Center (EEC) and created a development project with the help of new joiners and trained them in developing the project that they are assessed with. The thought process and the way the project has been put in place is just amazing and left a legacy within the entire space.
In short, in my initial days at ABSA, he is one of my role models who groomed me to what I am currently and still there is a lot that I have to learn from him.
